OBITUARY:
THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, 18 Jul 1960: "DEPORT - The funeral of Mrs. J. H. Ripley, 89, who died late Saturday, was set Monday at 4 p.m. at the Church of Christ here, Grant Funeral Home making interment in Highland Cemetery. Albert Roach, minister, and the Rev. George Griffin had charge, and named bearers were J. B. Alley, Morris Fisher, Gerald Barham, Charles Foster, Arthur Marshall and Carlos Denison. Mrs. Ripley, whose death occurred at the Sanitarium of Paris, Saturday about 9:45 p.m., had had long illness. The former Miss Sarah Elizabeth Turner, Mrs. Ripley was born in Delta County, June 1, 1871. She had lived all her life in Delta, Red River and Lamar County. Her husband died in 1933, and she leaves these children: Mrs. Molly Griffin, Mrs. Mattie Medsker, Miss Lucy Ripley and Miss Beth Ripley, all of Deport; George Ripley, Ogden, Utah; Sgt. Malcolm Ripley, Montgomery, Ala; and Sgt. Mayo (Pete) Ripley, San Antonio, and a sister, Mrs. J. S. McKinney of Westbrook."1

Pleasant Cemetery, Deport, Lamar County, TX.
OBITUARY:
DEPORT TIMES 18 Dec 1925, Friday, from microfilm in the Clarksville Library: Mrs. Lillie McGee, wife of Alfred McGee of Yoakum, died Thursday night at the home of her sister, Mrs. J. H. Ripley, in the Mosley Community where she had been visiting the past month. She had been in bad health during the time she had been in this community, and was critically ill about 10 days preceding her death. Funeral services were conducted Friday by the Rev. B. F. Dickson, pastor of the Deport Baptist Church, and interment was made at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Deceased was 46 years old at the time of her death and is survived by her husband, 2 daughters, Misses Adeline and Josephine; 3 sisters, Mmes. J. S. McKinney of Westbrook, and J. H. Ripley of Deport, and Miss Mary Turner. Her maiden name was Lillie Turner, and she professed religion and united with the Baptist Church in Delta County in early life. Sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of the people of this community in their bereavement.6

AR, shows Henry as 8 and born in GA. 1900 census of Delta County, TX shows birth year as 1844. He emigrated between 1845 and 1847 from AR; Family moved to AR between 1845 and 1847. Came to Texas in 1856. Lived in Charleston, Delta Co, TX from 1890 - death. He appeared on the census of 1850 in the household of Adam Lydie at Monroe, Sevier County, AR.1 William Henry Lyda emigrated in 1856 from TX. He began military service in January 1861 at (Fort?) Stockton, TX. Confederate States Army, Enlisted Jan. 1861. Served to 1865, in Company D. Grand Berry's Brigade, 15 Regiment. Discharged near Rawley NC at the close of the war. Enlisted in Stockton, TX, then in Tharp Springs, Johnson Co, TX. Witnesses: W. A. (Dock) Karnes and W. M. Dennis, of Granbury. Was in the Cavalry. Note: His application was witnessed by T. G. Boorman, (father-in-law) and Harvy Boorman in Collin Co. TX (1909). Service record from Washington reads: "The records show that Wm. H. Liday, private, Company D, 15th Texas Cavalry, which subsequently formed part of Company F, Granbury's Consolidated Texas Brigade, Confederate States Army, enlisted March 1, 1862, and that he was paroled near Greensboro, North Carolina, in 1865, exact date not stated, but probably on or about April 28, 1865." He married Sarah Letitia Ann Boorman, daughter of Thomas G. Boorman and Elizabeth Hannah Screeton, on 2 November 1868 at Hunt Co., TX.2 William Henry Lyda and Sarah Letitia Ann Boorman appeared on the census at District 149, Precinct 1, Erath County, TX, on 22 June 1880.3 William Henry Lyda and Sarah Letitia Ann Boorman appeared on the census at Delta County, TX, on 20 June 1900.4 William Henry Lyda and Sarah Letitia Ann Boorman appeared on the census at Delta County, TX, on 20 April 1910.5 William Henry Lyda and Sarah Letitia Ann Boorman appeared on the census at Delta County, TX, on 26 January 1920.6 William Henry Lyda died on 13 November 1923 at near Vasco, Delta County, TX, at age 80. Confederate Pension Application - Application for Mortuary Warrant. He was buried on 14 November 1923 at Union Grove Cemetery, Charleston, Delta County, TX. It is assumed William Henry Lyda is buried beside his wife in Union Grove. Dowsing has proved there is a burial beside her that is unmarked.7

Elliott, on 18 June 1874 at Delta County, TX. James C. Ray was convicted of killing Alfred H. Bledsoe on 1 Aug 1877 and was sentenced to the penitentiary for ten years. in 1887 at Charleston, Delta County, TX.2 He and Sarah Elizabeth Oats appeared on the census at Pineville Twp., McDonald Co., MO, on 30 April 1910 He is listed as John L.
