THE PARIS NEWS, Oct. 18, 1976: "Mrs. Elmer Smith of Cherry Street Manor, who moved to Paris in 1970 from Plains, died at 4:55 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Leverett and Steele Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 14, 1903, in Delta County, the daughter of the late John Turner and Ella Lyda. She married George H. Smith in Delta County. He preceded her in death in 1930. She is survived by one son, George Smith of Paris; two sisters, Mrs. O. C. (Cora) Henson of Paris and Mrs. Jim (Edna) Lester of Alexandria, Va; and two grandchildren."

THE PARIS NEWS, Oct 20, 1976: "Smith Funeral - Funeral Services for Mrs. Elmer Smith of Rt. 1, Paris, were held at 2 pm Tuesday in the Leverett and Steele Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev James Sims officiated and burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chester Thomas, Johnny Smith, Ronnie Smith, Robert Perryman, James Barnett and Kenneth Thomas. Mrs. Smith died Monday at St Joseph's Hospital."3
